Flanged Stainless Steel Ball Valves (by order) for small diameters ≤DN50 are rarely used. They are more expensive, and tightening flanges with studs is a more laborious process than screwing threads, yet they can provide increased reliability and sealing while remaining dismountable. They are used in the oil and gas industry for chemicals.

Welded Stainless Steel Ball Valve (by order) — is a non-dismountable and fully sealed connection for systems where even the slightest leakage is unacceptable. It is used for gas, explosive, toxic, and combustible substances.

Stainless Steel Grade

ANSI CF8 and AISI 304 are stainless “food” grade steel ball valves. Their chemical composition is virtually identical, but AISI 304 is typically used for rolled products (such as tubes). Casting is used for high-pressure shut-off control elements – ANSI CF8 standard.

ANSI CF8M and AISI 316 are more corrosion-resistant “marine” steels with molybdenum added. Used when there is chlorine in the composition for concentrated and heated acids.

ANSI CF3M and AISI 316L are low-carbon steel grades ideally suited for welded ball valves.
