For carbon dioxide, there are specialised SF-WZ valves for the welding hose.

A hissing sound indicates a leak — the most likely cause is worn valve seals, but it can also be a torn tube, stuck solenoid, or more serious damage. If you hear hissing, stop work immediately and turn off the CO₂ gas supply to prevent poisoning. Check the elements for leaks by supplying air.
