Choosing shut-off and control valves for steam and condensate

SV-SH Solenoid Valve

The SV-SH series solenoid steam valves with diameters DN10~DN50 are available in threaded and flanged connections. They are made of stainless steel and high-temperature PTFE (+250°C max) for use with saturated steam and hot condensate. They have a built-in radiator in the top cover for heat dissipation. They operate in an “open-close” mode by closing the electrical circuit and are normally closed without power.

Control Valves

Two-way seat reduction valves for superheated steam (+350°C max) with diameters DN15~DN100 come with flanged connections. They can not only shut off the flow but also regulate it — they can be equipped with a pneumatic actuator with a positioner and, less frequently, an electric one. We offer reduction steam valves made of cast carbon steel WCB, as well as stainless steel resistant to condensate corrosion.

WCB steel valves are a better alternative to cast iron for EN-JS1049 (GJS-400-18LT) steam, as WCB fittings better withstand thermal shocks, vibration, and have higher operating temperatures and PN pressure.

Steam Ball Valve

Be sure to inform the manager that a steam seal is needed when ordering a steam ball valve from us. Standard models of stainless steel valves in our online shop have PTFE seals (+180°C), which may not be sufficient.

Wedge Gate Valves for Steam

We offer flanged seat valves for steam as the best alternative to wedge gate valves:

• less seat wear since the valve disc is pressed to the seat, whereas the wedge is lowered between two seals, leading to friction, deformation, and consequently a loss of tightness during operation;
• the valve can regulate, whereas the wedge gate valve is only suitable for cutting off the flow, “close-open”;
• cooling of the packing unit due to the extended cover with a radiator, which prolongs the life of the stem seals; condensate is an additional hydraulic barrier against steam leaks.
