Low Pressure Screw Compressors
Low Pressure Screw Compressors
Low pressure screw compressors are single-stage air compression units for general industrial pneumatic equipment, operable under pressure from 5 to 8~10 bars. They can power most standard pneumatic tools and actuators on production lines and various machinery.
How to choose and buy a low pressure screw compressor?
All models of Specialist compressor equipment are ready-to-use electrical compressors that we supply ready for connection to 220 or 380 Volt and pneumatic lines, after which you only need to set the required output pressure to start operation.
Differences between models:
- Compressors with or without a receiver. An air compressor receiver is an essential element for any compression line as it not only creates a reservoir of accumulated air but also minimises pressure fluctuations and reduces air temperature after compression. To save space, screw compressors are mounted on top of the expansion tank (receiver).
- Compressors with a standard electrical cabinet or frequency converter. Inside the unit are components for supplying power and starting the electric motor from Schneider and other manufacturers. Frequency drives are currently popular because they offer additional motor protection and improve power supply, thus extending the motor's life. Significant energy consumption reduction is also noticeable on powerful blowers above 10 kW.
- Compressors with asynchronous or synchronous motors. Although asynchronous machines are cheaper, air compressors with better synchronous motors are becoming more popular in Ukraine due to the necessity to power equipment from generators and UPS. Synchronous motors are more resistant to voltage spikes; additionally, they always accompany frequency control, offering even more protection.
- Mobile or stationary compressors. Mostly, screw compressors are more powerful and massive than piston compressors, hence they are installed immovably in compressor rooms. However, we also sell low pressure mobile units on wheels with a handle welded to the receiver. Wheels facilitate the transportation and use of efficient screw compressors, often purchased for rental or use in fieldwork – to power pneumatic hammers in road construction, other on-site repair works.
- Compressors for household electricity 220 Volt or industrial 380V. Almost all our compressor models are large, high-performance, and designed for a three-phase 380V network, but we have one option for garages and small workshops with only 220V available – the small compressor SCC-CM2.2-03 with a capacity 300 L/min, featuring all the advantages of screw-type units: low noise, low electricity consumption, longevity of components.
- Direct drive via a jaw clutch or rigid coupling. Our company has abandoned models with a belt-pulley, which require constant tensioning and replacement due to stretching. Jaw couplings compensate for slight misalignment between the shaft of the screw pair and the motor with minimal efficiency losses, whereas rigid direct coupling has better efficiency.
