Inductive Sensor VBI M18 PNP SE-SEN-TK-18P5C/18PC5C signals metal detection within a distance of less than 5 mm from the sensor. Compared to other manufacturers, this sensor model offers reliability and longevity due to the quality of its components:
- the electronic circuit has diode protection in case of incorrect polarity connection;
- the cylindrical housing IP66 M18 protects the electronic components from moisture in the air;
- 2 meters of PVC cable with tinned copper is provided for connection — this conductor ensures better signal transmission;
- the blue sensor TK has a switching current of 200 mA, which is twice as much as the TL model;
- resistance to interference due to optimally selected measurement frequency of 400 Hz, high-quality components.

The sensitivity distance SE-SEN-TK-18P5C/18PC5C varies for different metal alloys. Inductive sensors detect ferrous metals with high iron content, steel, and stainless items best. For the sensor to react to chrome, nickel, copper, or aluminium — these objects need to be brought closer. The recommended distance is provided in the instructions and can also be determined practically.
For convenience, the sensor is equipped with an LED for indication.
Connecting the Inductive PNP Sensor
This is a three-wire VBI M18 sensor with the following colour coding for connection:
- brown — positive (+) pole of the power source 24V (from 10 to 30 Volts);
- blue — negative (−) power pole;
- black — output signal line. Operating principle of the inductive sensor PNP NO/NC:
- PNP NO — if metal is not nearby, the power (+) and output signal lines are open. When the sensor detects metal proximity at a distance of up to 5 mm, the lines close and the signal line voltage is close to the power source (high signal level);
- PNP NC — the circuit is normally closed and the output signal line voltage is close to the power source (+) until the detector senses a change in the magnetic- induction field when metal approaches within 5 millimetres, the circuit opens, and the signal is absent.
