Description

5/2 valves are most commonly used for controlling pneumatic cylinders with a double-sided control method. Operating air pressure — from 0 to 8.5 bar. Switching the state and position of this valve is done using one or two air signals:

"AS" in the product code (SKU) indicates a valve with one air signal. It is monostable, as in the absence of a control air signal, the return spring holds it in a specific position (pressurising air at output A);
"AA" indicates a valve with two air signals. It is bistable, as it remains in its last position in the absence of a control signal (pressurising air at output A or B) until a new air signal arrives to change the position.

When ordering, the customer must select the required connection thread size — G1/8″, G1/4″, G3/8″ or G1/2″.

5/2 valves have five main connection lines. The ports are marked:

P — for air supply
A — first output
B — second output
R1 — exhaust to atmosphere from first output
R2 — exhaust to atmosphere from second output

Additionally, there is a 1/8″ port on the side end for connecting the control signal of compressed air. Valves with double-sided control have two such ports.

The 5/2 valve can occupy two positions:

compressed air is supplied from the inlet to the first outlet, the pressure from the second outlet is released as the output is connected to the atmosphere through the exhaust port;
compressed air is supplied to the second output, air is exhausted from the first output through the exhaust port, atmospheric pressure.
