When to install a pneumatic check valve

Pneumatic check valves are installed on the pneumatic line after an air screw or piston compressor to prevent unwanted backflow of high-pressure air and control the direction when constructing circuits – they allow flow exclusively from inlet to outlet (A→P). Unidirectional pneumatic valves are entirely mechanical and therefore very reliable.

Instances when check valves are used:

• maintaining high pressure on the line in case of air supply interruption;
• protecting moving equipment parts from shifting that may cause the reverse of compressed air;
• the need for one-way drive speed control – a check valve is used in combination with a pneumatic throttle for this;
• constructing logical pneumatic circuits with AND and OR elements, such as implementing a pneumatic actuator for door control, assembling pneumatic manipulators, etc.
