Encoders
An encoder (shaft encoder) is an optical sensor of the rotational speed of an electric motor shaft. A drive equipped with it is used for high-precision positioning of CNC machine carriages, as a counter in printers and plotters for printing, as well as for solving other industrial tasks related to production automation.
At the company “Specialist” (Ukraine), you can buy a quadrature incremental encoder 24 volts or 5 V of the SPLC-HY series for tracking the angle of rotation and direction of motor rotation. In stock at our warehouses in Dnipro and Lviv, we keep universal models of sensors 100, 1000, 2500, and 4096 pulses per revolution. Under order, we supply twice as accurate, with the number of pulses per encoder revolution from 50 to 5000, and we can manufacture with another range required by the client, but not more than 5000 pulses/rev.
We offer shaft encoders for different installation methods — with an axial hole in the center, with an output shaft with flats or with depression. The angular displacement sensors of the shaft can be applied for any type of electric motor: asynchronous, synchronous, stepper motors with speeds not exceeding 5000 rpm. You can also order a servo motor with an integrated encoder from us.
Connecting an encoder to a controller (PLC), frequency converter or servo driver
The encoder sensor DC26V has 8 variations by output signal type:
- E4 — output voltage (potential) 24 V (DC from 5 to 26V)
- L5 — output linear driver 5 V (RS-422)
- P4 (on order) — push-pull output (without 0 signal) 24v
- H6 (on order) — push-pull output (without 0 signal) 24 volts
- N4 (on order) — open collector output 24v
- L6 (on order) — output linear driver 24 V
| Colour | Red | Black | Green | Blue | White | Brown | Yellow | Orange | Screen |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Open collector | Vcc | 0V | A | - | B | - | Z | - | G |
| Push-pull output | |||||||||
| Potential output | |||||||||
| Linear driver | Vcc | 0V | A | ¬A | B | ¬B | Z | ¬Z | G |
The company “Specialist” also sells modular and single-panel industrial controllers manufactured by Xinje and Haiwell with high-speed inputs for receiving pulse signals from an encoder.
When connecting an encoder for an asynchronous motor controlled by a frequency converter FC1000, AT20 and NZ8400, a specialized board for receiving ABZ signals from the encoder is added to the frequency converter itself. Frequency converters should support FVC, i.e., vector control of the motor in a closed loop, with feedback via the encoder.
