Manual condensate drain cock is, of course, cheaper. However, such "handles" are inconvenient because the valve is located at the very bottom of the receiver, and you need to stop the compressor, place a container, and open the valve to drain the liquid. They are recommended for use only in domestic conditions, when the user rarely switches on the piston compressor and only for a short period.

Automatic condensate drain valve is indispensable for industrial screw compressors that can operate 24/7. These are mostly solenoid valves with a timer that can be set to open at intervals from 10 seconds to 45 minutes. Short periodic opening of the drain valve allows the discharge of condensate while maintaining air pressure in the tank.
