Air Preparation Unit for Tyre Changers is a group of devices consisting of a filter regulator with a manometer and a lubricator (oil dispenser), used prior to delivering compressed air to tyre changer stands for trucks and cars, bead expanders or pneumatic hydraulic machines for disc repair. The air preparation assembly cleans the compressed air, allows setting the operating pressure and lubricates the pneumatic drive internally.

How to Choose an Air Preparation Unit for a Tyre Changer Stand?

There are 4 main parameters to focus on initially:

Input Pressure. Typically, air compressors at service stations pressurise to a maximum of 8~10 bar and most pneumatic air preparation and purification blocks available in the Ukrainian market withstand these atmospheric pressures.

Adjustable Output Pressure. Most pneumatic regulators on the Ukrainian market support settings in the range of 0.5 to 8.5 bar. This is ideal for tyre changer stands, which on average operate within 5 to 8 bar.

Sometimes suppliers specify the operation characteristics of tyre changer stands at 10 bar— usually, this is purely a marketing move to highlight the higher bead breaking forces, which increase along with pressure.

Air Consumption. Tyre changers have relatively low air consumption, so miniature and inexpensive general-purpose air preparation blocks can be used. For example, the consumption for truck tyre changers 26 inches can be 400 nl/min, while smaller machines use about 200 nl/min. It is important to consider the maximum rather than the average benchmark and to set aside a 10~30% reserve. A small and affordable air preparation block rated for 500~700 nl/min works well in both cases.

Filtration Degree. Tyre changer manufacturers recommend air purification to 20~25 microns (coarse) or 5 microns (fine). The fineness of filtration depends solely on the replaceable filter element installed inside — you can order any from us individually.

Specialised oil for pneumatic and hydraulic systems ISO VG32 standard should be used in pneumatic lubricators of tyre changers. You can purchase oil either directly from the company Specialist or find it in shops that trade synthetic, hydraulic, and pneumatic devices.
